We took on Red Star in the summer of 2015.
With over a decade in the hospitality industry each, we’ve worked around the country and abroad, but have found our home here in Wanaka.
We’re passionate about this little burger joint and are so stoked that we get to do what we love in this insanely epic part of the world - Scott and Ash (+ minis).

If you know your way around a grill, are fast on your feet and happy working in a busy team environment, then we'd love to hear from you!
Kitchen experience is key - we need people with good knife skills, experience in food safety practices, a clear mind under pressure and an ability to adapt and lead the team through busy services. Even better if you’ve got a piece of paper with a cooking qualification on it.
>> Assistant Manager
We’re looking for an assistant manager to coordinate the day-to-day operations at Red Star - ensuring the team is well looked after, service runs smoothly, and everything in-store is kept in good order.
You’ll be working in close partnership with the GM and us - the owners - so that we can meet our revenue, profitability and quality goals, all the while keeping the Red Star spirit alive and well.
Our full-time crew usually work a 4 on / 3 off roster.
Shifts vary from 11am, 2.30pm or 5pm starts, through to 9.30 / 10pm finishes, leaving plenty of time for activities.
Remuneration is based on experience and level of responsibility, which will increase over time. Our whole team shares a cut of the store turnover on top of their hourly rate, plus we have targeted bonuses for our management crew.
