Red Star Burgers, Wanaka NZ. Restaurant Exterior.

A Wanaka institution since 2004

History.

Red Star was the vision of three local mates who had a thing for hearty, honest and wholesome food. The OG owners ran the show for a full decade and built up a bevy of very loyal locals who still pop in to call after them today.

Scotty and Ash took over in the summer of 2015. Since then, Red Star has continued to grow, though the menu and the ethos remain much the same: good, hearty burgers made with fresh, local produce and served without the fuss. We like to keep it simple and let the ingredients shine and the banter flow. We are proudly local and are passionate about our epic little town and its environment.

Today we have 25+ burgers to choose from and a top-notch selection of Wanaka’s finest brews to wash ‘em all down with. Rumour has it, we have the best fries in town too.

Sustainability.

We’re passionate about our little burger biz and this epic environment we get to live and work in, so we’re always down for ways to help protect it. From encouraging people to dine-in, to using biodegradable, compostable or recyclable packaging, restricting single-use plastics or plastic bottles, and sending our food scraps to our local farmers, we’re onto it.
